Cyanotype Postcards - Pack of 10
Set of 10 cyanotype postcards
We are in love with these postcards created using cyanotype technique!
Using the most inspiring flora around her, Stephanie created delicate photograms over watercolor paper - you will want to colect them all! Each one has its magic.
Cyanotype is a printing process that was an innovation at its time, in 1842 when it was designed by the english scientist and astronomer, Sir John Frederick William Herschel.
The images are created through the exposure of the salts to the UV light of the sun!
It was the first process ever to create images based on iron salts: unlike black and white photography that depends on silver salts, cyanotypes depend on the photochemical reduction of iron citrate (III) salts.
Cyanotype is a photographic printing process, that without any machines or lenses, produces a cyan-blue print (from the greek word cyanos, which means cyan-blue).
◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦
This postcard is an ode to the slow movement and the natural light of the Sun, respecting the seasons- if a stubborn cloud comes along there will be no cyanotype!
The backside of the postcard is blank, each one is signed by Stephanie and ready for your message or to be framed for your favorite wall!
